Ashlea House - Where to Visit
There are so many interesting places to go and things to see in Somerset that it is impossible to list them all, but here are a few examples of the delights we have on our doorstep here in South Somerset:
Cadbury Castle (which is not a Castle) - an ancient hill fort, the reputed site of King Arthur's Camelot - is situated at South Cadbury, 5 minutes drive away. It is historically fascinating and a superb view point.
Similarly, approx. 13 miles to the west lies another ancient hill fort at Ham Hill, Stoke sub Hamdon - also the source of the wonderful yellow Ham Stone which typifies the quaint old villages of South Somerset.
Both these sites offer spectacular views ranging from the Dorset Down to the Blackdown Hills bordering Devonshire to the mysterious Somerset Levels, and Glastonbury with its Tor - the ancient Isle of Avalon, and sweeping around to the Mendip Hills to the north. The beautiful cathedral city of Wells and the magnificent Cheddar Gorge are within a 45 minute drive from Ashlea House
For Aviation enthusiasts the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton.
For vintage Motor enthusiasts Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford
